Calm Beta package is an initiative by medical students focusing on providing more value for the joining medic’s money, not just comfortably providing the physical essentials and making a run for it, rather giving an opportunity to the joining 1st year medic to join a larger family constantly bringing up new solutions and providing the best of mentorship and guidance.
The major reason all the Calm Beta package features are available is due to collaborative efforts by caring members of the Keep Calm Community who appealed for such features to be available freely to joining medical students, to cushion them from the culture shock and heavy workload that was ahead of them. In an effort to try and bridge the gap between those who proceed to 2nd year and those who have challenges, the Calm Beta Package takes the best out of the physical and the digital world, for more effective results.

- There remains, however, a gap on revision material that mimics the testing methods that are prevalently used within all the departments. This is revision based on Interactive Quizzes. Quizzes in which you can fill in the answers and get your test scores on the go, or as soon as possible. “Is there a gap Leo? Really?” Well, amazing people cropped up trying to fill in these gaps in the recent cohort, and I can guarantee you that it was a definite favorite for most, if not all the students of the recent cohort.
- Quizzes that are available are on popular platforms like Teach me Anatomy and Kenhub, however, this is an expensive venture as you have to purchase the premium version of the apps that’s well over 13000 ksh annually.
- Other amazing initiatives include slides on all units which were provided by most if not all lecturers, summary slides compiled by some of the greatest brother figures we have had in the department e.g. Kimani Josephat, student-led initiatives and much more.
